Cat names vs dog names

Some names are unmistakably feline; others are pure dog. This isn't an opinion — it's measured. For every name carried by both licensed cats and licensed dogs, we compare its share of each population, which corrects for dogs being the far larger dataset. A name that takes a much bigger slice of the cat rolls than the dog rolls is a cat name, and the ratio says by how much.

362 names clear the bar (at least 15 licensed cats and 5 licensed dogs, so no ratio is built on a handful of animals).
